Ingredients :
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk (whole or buttermilk)
1 teaspoon of vanilla (I love vanilla, I always use a lot more)
Buttercream
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 to 1 cup baker's cocoa
1 stick of butter
Add 3 tbsp milk (adding more or less depends on you and how you like your icing)

Preheat oven to 350.
I sift my flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl and set it to the side till I’m ready for it.
I also add my vanilla to my milk and stir it.
Beat the sugar and butter for about 3-5 mins. Add the eggs one at a time until blended in, I then add a cup of the flour and half of the milk (combining together with a spatula/spoon), then repeat with the flour and rest of the milk, then finish with the last cup of flour. After it is blended in, I use the mixer again for about 2/3 minutes.
Use 3, 8, or 9-inch layer pans.
I spray, dust with flour, and cut out circles of parchment paper and put them in the bottom of the pan.
Bake at 350 for 25-30 min.
